None of our salon waste will go to landfill

We recycle the unrecyclable

Hair and beauty salons contribute a huge amount of foils, tint tubes, cans and bottles to landfill every year. This takes on average 400 years to break down.

At Morgan Brown, we're constantly striving towards becoming a greener salon with more sustainable practices and new eco-friendly products.

As proud members of Green Salon Collective we can now recycle all our hair, used foils, empty colour tubes, chemicals, PPE, plastic, paper and even salon towels.

Plastics

While most councils only take 3 out of 7 plastics in the recycling bin, and only if you’ve washed it first can we recycle all our plastics with Green Salon Collective. They have turned them into hair combs and tint bowls completing the circle of use.

Hair

We recycle your hair trimmings! Did you know hair is 15% nitrogen which when broken down in compost is readily available to feed plant life? Your hair gets reused as hair mats to feed potted plants.

And we all know hair is great at absorbing oil - The green salon collective have taken this one step further to turn clipping into hair booms to soak up oil spills in waterways and oceans!

Metals

Sadly only 47% of metal gets recycled in the UK - dirty metals are tossed into landfill during sorting. Thankfully GSC will take all our metals, no matter if it has bleach or tint all over it. Metal can be recycled indefinitely, unlike plastic or paper.

Paper

normally, paper and cardboard go into the same recycling bin as other recyclables often leaving it contaminated, and  rendering it non-recyclable. With Green Salon Collective we can recycle paper separately with the aim of 100% being recycled. Our disposable cups go into the national paper cup recycling scheme via GSC.

Chemicals

usually, left over chemicals such as tint, bleach and perming solutions are poured down the sink - contaminating water ways and the land. Thanks to the GSC all of our chemical waste now goes on to be used to create energy for the National Grid!
